When I first built eyeSpeed, it was for a simple reason: I wanted an accurate speedometer that did not turn my location into someone else’s business model. That need is not limited to one country.
Today, eyeSpeed is localized into 39 languages and available in more than 140 countries on the App Store. The goal is simple: make the app feel local while keeping the privacy standard constant.
A Truly Local Experience
Localization is more than translation. eyeSpeed supports regional units, VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, and right-to-left layouts where they belong. The app should feel built for your phone, not roughly adapted for your market.
Why 140 Countries and Not Everywhere?
We are not in every market yet. That includes major regions such as the EU/UK, Brazil, India, China, and Russia.
The reason is straightforward. eyeSpeed is an independent product, and I am not willing to compromise the “Data Not Collected” standard just to claim broader distribution. Some regions require legal, tax, privacy, or representation work that a small project cannot responsibly shortcut.
So instead of launching everywhere with gaps or guesswork, I have chosen to wait until those markets can be supported properly. I would rather be unavailable in a country than be careless with compliance or privacy.
Our Goal: Universal Availability
These exclusions are not the long-term plan. I am actively tracking regulatory changes and looking for sustainable ways to expand into the missing markets without changing what makes eyeSpeed different.
That means following the details, from GDPR in Europe to newer privacy frameworks elsewhere, and expanding only when the product can meet those requirements honestly.
Privacy Without Borders
The core promise does not change by market: Zero data collection. Your location is processed on-device to calculate speed. It is not uploaded, stored on a server, or sold to advertisers.
That is the standard behind eyeSpeed in every country where it is available now, and it is the standard I plan to keep everywhere else.
