You are cruising in a freshly imported JDM car. The cluster only reads in KPH. You are doing mental math and wondering whether a 25-year-old speedometer is even accurate anymore.

That was me. I wanted a clean speedometer I could trust without tracking, ads, or spam. I could not find it, so I built it. A prototype of eyeSpeed showed my own cluster was about 7 KPH high at highway speed, which made the mission obvious: help drivers verify speed and drive with confidence without giving up privacy.

The Problem I Refused to Ship

Most speedometer apps came with the same baggage: tracking, ads, spammy notifications, subscription tricks, and feature bloat that made a simple job feel messy.

I did not want any of that in my car, and I did not want it in my app.

What eyeSpeed Is

eyeSpeed is a purpose-built speedometer for people who care about driving, accuracy, and privacy. It is a one-time purchase, has no ads, no spam notifications, on-device processing, and fast MPH/KPH switching for imports and travel.

It is not a data-harvesting “free” app or a notification funnel. I am building a privacy-first utility.

Why Privacy Was Non-Negotiable

Location is sensitive data. A speedometer app does not need to profile how you drive or where you go. It just needs to show your speed clearly and accurately.

That is why eyeSpeed processes everything on-device. No analytics SDKs, no ad network hooks, no server collecting route history. You pay once because it is a utility, and you keep your privacy because that is the point.

What Comes Next

I want to keep building eyeSpeed without losing focus. That means deeper iOS integrations where they actually help, continued accessibility work, and steady improvements to reliability and readability.

Every addition has to earn its place.
